Dane' completes a Signature 'Ribbon' Pendant for the Coraggio Group's Portland Offices..

Recently Dane' designed and built an unusual and stunning large pendant for the Coraggio Group - soon to be hung in their corporate offices, and the newly renovated Gotham Building in Portland, Oregon.

This signature piece is not only a task driven light fixture ... it is a three-dimensional mural showcasing several historical figures and quotes that have significant meaning for the Coraggio marketing team and owners.

The treatment applied to the portraits and elements was executed in the Italian-Fresco style, with subtle transparent sepia-tone transitions.

The large Ribbon Shaped signature piece (5 feet X 3 feet x 2 feet) suspends from the 12 foot ceiling at the entrance to the Coraggio Group's new Digs.

Dane' Murphy has a BFA in Fine Arts and has been a practicing NW fine artist since the 70's. She is also LEED Certified and every fixture she designs and builds is fabricated from sustainable and reclaimed materials. The Coraggio Pendant was created with zero tox mediums, low draw lampage (non-mercury), and reclaimed steel framework. This will help earn the highest rated points towards this LEED Certified renovation of over 16,000 square feet. The Gotham Building renovation will seek LEED Certification.

Currently she is working on several large - figurative backlit panels -

10 feet X 4 feet, that will suspend from the ceiling.

Dane' also has several hospitality fixture projects 'in the works' ,to be completed over the next few months.

The Focus: Dane' Murphy's Custom Designed and Crafted Sustainable Lighting...this stuff is NOT 'Vanilla' or boring.

Wow! What a wirlwind...when Steve Thomas (of This Old House fame) paid a visit to Dane's lighting studio and workshop Wednesday, March 11th. The Discovery Channel's 'PLANET GREEN - Renovation Nation' film crew were in Oregon this past week filming for their 2009-2010 season, and made it a point to learn about Dane's Sustainable lighting pieces. The show will first air in the Fall (2009), and feature her unique lighting designs and techniques. Steve and the crew of Renovation Nation visit Dane's welder and metal fab 'guy', where Steve learns how to Oxi-acetalene weld..then back to her studio, where Steve gets another lesson on 'creativity' and actually helps build a pair of sconces that will later be installed in a beautiful NW Portland home. Follow their adventure as Dane' educates Steve and his audience on the beauty and endless possibilities of sustainable lighting - and that any home owner can contribute to a Greener and more beautiful Planet by taking the smallest of steps.
